Vintage Bridal Headpieces

The Vintage Look for weddings is hot for 2011!  This is my niche.  I do a lot of research on styles, ...(continued on Updates/Your Comments...)

The variations below hold a very basic idea of the flower types that I can do.
For the true Victorian look these flowers would be in much richer colors like burgundy, creams, taupes and greys, even navy and many leaves added to the arrangement.
***Many flowers would be grouped together and even a mix of different flowers would be combined to get a more natural look.
***Feathers can most certainly be added and would be very fitting for the Victorian look as well as little flower buds and berries.

***The bird cage veil is a very popular style for this season so I added it to my repertoire.
***Mixing the look of different eras is quite acceptable and pulling off the look you want, "mostly this...with a (flavor) or (hint) of another" is the very essence of what makes your day...yours alone.
Please remember to look around this entire site and get ideas that would carry your theme from your save the date cards throughout the wedding ceremony to your shoes and thank you cards.

The following headpieces are the latest creation I am working on for a bride-to-be, (this October).  Andrea loves the "rustic" look of the "flowered vine."  The perfect ivory with a dash of color to the silk ribbon was granted at her request.
We've added some beads to the petals for the right sparkle, too.

This is Andrea, showing off the beautiful piece that she designed.

This piece is on display at l'Evento Event Resource Boutique in Carmel, IN.

Cream rose buds. This is a closeup view of the front of this piece.  Larger, more open buds in the front and smaller, tighter little roses in the back.  All of the roses are beaded with a pearl bead for just a little sparkle.  Three lines of ribbon are on the sides of the piece to anchor the look and subtly draw the eye toward the neckline.  The end of each length of ribbon is beaded at the end.  This is classic Victorian.  Beautifully capturing nature with simple form and sweetness.
$180 as is.

Back view shows the smaller roses behind the larger roses facing forward.  Three lines of ribbon anchor the sides for the true Victorian look.  The veil is ~30" long and is a straight cut that is untrimmed.  The veil of course can be changed to a different style and length.

Laurel1 w/ veil

Bird cage veil with fascinator attached.  This flower (fascinator) is a white "magnolia" type of a flower.  The flower is made of bias cut silk ribbon that has been hand dyed white.  (Yes, even white needs a dye).  The stamens in the center are lilac and spring green.  The leaves are also made of bias cut silk ribbon that was hand dyed with many colors (multi-colored) green, lilac, burgundy and olive.  The colors of the leaves are dyed beautifully and the changes are subtle, definite and not at all muddy.  This particular piece can be customized in any way that will fit your needs and desires.  More flowers can be added to this look, less or more stamens can be added to the center of the flowers, the stamens can be lengthened or quite close to the flower's center.  The colors of the flower, leaves and stamens can also be changed, customized to fit your desires.  The shape and size of the flower petals can be altered as well.  This piece as is:  $55.

Here is a clearer picture of the flower fascinator.  Isn't it beautiful?  This piece can be sold unattached to a veil, just as is.  This piece can be used in a multitude of ways-really the ideas are limitless.  See list of flower variations possible on the left for more ideas.  Of course there are ALWAYS those ideas and then some....  As is $15  (~5" wide)

The picture of the piece above is beautiful, yes, but it does not capture all of the detail of the textures of the silks used.  The center of the flower is made of a dupioni silk ribbon and it is beautifully beaded in it's center.  The extending petals of the interior part of the main flower are made of bias cut silk ribbon that has been hand dyed white and are hand pleated very much in the fashion of Victorian style.  To add another texture and sparkle are the little pearl beads to secure the pleated ribbon.  Outside area of the piece are my signature Victorian rose buds that are so feminine.  This veil is a straight cut and untrimmed at the edges, ~30" long.   This piece:  $135.

Here is the side view of the piece.  It is attached to the veil which already was equipped with a comb.  Any and all pieces can be altered and customized to accomodate different hairstyles.

I'm so excited about this flower.  The size of the ribbon can make all the difference in the world!  Brides can wear TOP HATS, too.  A white hat and a white flower this size would make such a grand statement.  Add a veil to the front of the brim of the hat and again, there's a whole new look!  $20

All of classics of the Vintage Look.  Burgundy rosettes are in company with small velvet clusters of leaves. Sweet silk pink and green pansies are in the mix.  Knotted pink dainty ribbons surround this piece to give it the extra touch of femininity.  All attached to a crinoline backing necessary to hold the piece in shape.  Truly an heirloom quality piece.  A shadowbox to showcase this beautiful piece for years to come is most recommended.
$55

These beautiful silk ribbon flowers can also be used to adorn a veil.  Or simply the band could be changed to all white satin.  The Vintage Look which is popular for the 2010 bridal season would have more muted colors; taupes, beiges, creams and even browns would be appropriate for the vintage theme.  $15

Fascinator.
White rose with cream leaves.  A simple accent.  Bridal/prom/everyday.
Large barrette. ~4" long

Yes, this is from my headband's page and it is a great example of taking (one of my ideas) and switching it around.  The snood could be a full piece of the plaid fabric and the flowers, well, could still be there...around the whole snood or just a couple across the top.  Ideas, Ideas, Ideas.
